This weekend will be the first match of the SuperClasico between Los Angeles Galaxy and Chivas USA. This rivalry was made, not born, but fans are still excited to watch it when it comes around every year. Historically, it has been an easy win for Galaxy, but this year may be a little different. It's too early to call Chivas the victors, but Galaxy will have to earn its win this year.

It is still very early in the season for both clubs, but Chivas has been playing harder than ever. It hasn't won all its matches, but it has held many clubs to draws. Some of players Chivas has acquired in offseason are what are keeping the club ahead. It is currently 3 spots ahead of Galaxy in the Western Conference table, which is win in itself. Although, I wouldn't count Galaxy out just yet.

Galaxy has only played 2 matches this season -- both against Real Salt Lake -- while Chivas has played 4. Its MLS scheduling and a CONCACAF Champions League match has really kept it off the pitch. This may be the match to start Galaxy off with a bang this season. Its players and its fans are looking forward to this match more than anything. It's time to assert itself as king of Los Angeles.

This Superclasico may mean a little more than usual with the impending rebrand of Chivas. Chivas will most likely become Los Angeles FC, which puts the LA Galaxy in an awkward position. This LA Derby may soon become the fight to prove who really is the club of Los Angeles.

Don't forget to watch Galaxy take on Chivas this Sunday, April 6.
