To LA Galaxy the 1-1 draw felt like a loss, and to Chivas USA it felt like a win. LA Galaxy has the chance to become the first team in MLS history to win three MLS Cup titles in a row, but playing they way they did against Chivas USA will not help them get there.
In the 40th minute, Joaquín Velázquez of Chivas USA was given a red card. This red card has been the center of a lot of controversy, because many believe it did not merit the red. Chivas USA was able to keep LA Galaxy at bay from the 40th minute until the 83rd minute when Jack McBean scored a goal for the Galaxy.
LA Galaxy and their fans were ready to claim their victory but in the 89th minute Carlos Borja of Chivas USA tied up the match for the goats. It was unexpected and just what Chivas fans hoped for.
Chivas USA had been given a hard time during the off season because of the changes Chelis has made to the team. It may be a bit to early for those against Chelis to admit they're wrong, but it's been proven that maybe it's not all bad. They were able to beat FC Dallas 3-1 and draw against the current MLS Cup champions.
