LA Galaxy and the 2013 MLS SuperDraft

In 3 days, the 2013 MLS SuperDraft (presented by Adidas) will take place on live on MLSsoccer.com, ESPN3, ESPNFC, and YouTube. It is something that MLS fans look forward to, because the clubs choose top college soccer players to be the rookies for the following years.

After LA Galaxy was able to sign Gyasi Zardes as a homegrown player in December, the excitement of the SuperDraft has died down a bit. LA Galaxy has basically signed the top pick. Many fans of opposing teams claim LA Galaxy had 'cheated', but the team has not done anything unfair. Zardes himself seems very pleased to have joined the back-to-back MLS Cup champions LA Galaxy.

The MLS Combine matches have been taking place since the 11th of January, and the third and final match is to be played tomorrow on January 15th. It is a chance for everyone to see the players do what they do best firsthand.

LA Galaxy has chosen great players in earlier SuperDrafts who are now constants in the Los Angeles Galaxy lineup. Sean Franklin was chosen in the 2008 SuperDraft; AJ DeLaGarza and Omar Gonzalez were chosen in 2009. The SuperDraft isn't something that should be overlooked.

This year, LA Galaxy has the 19th pick (first round) and acquired the 24th pick (second round) as part of a trade with Philadelphia Union. They also have the 38th/last pick.
