La Feria Spanish Tapas had their soft opening this week in Midtown. La Feria, some may remember, was the Hatch Detroit winner in 2012. The Spanish tapas restaurant opened for lunch on Halloween, but opens for their first full day on Monday, Nov. 4. An opening a long time in the making, everyone in Detroit is happy to finally get to experience this new cuisine and culinary experience.
La Feria was the 2012 winner of the Hatch.com funding competition, the restaurant was set to open Spring 2013, but with construction dilemmas, permits, and licensing , things were uncertain for the owners. But it is official, opening day is set for this Monday, Nov. 4. The location is in the heart of Midtown downtown at 4130 Cass Ave in the middle of the Cass Corridor neighborhood.
La Feria is an open air party in Seville two weeks after Easter. The popular festival is one week full of flamenco, bullfighting, horse and carriages, tapas, and sherry. La Feria will bring that celebratory feeling to Detroit.
With traditional tapas like chicharrones with fried potato chips, clams with white wine, and of course churros with chocolate. The menu is authentic and will easily transport you to your own Plaza de España in Seville. La Feria has surely brought Seville to Detroit. We hope they have major success and continued community support.
