The 2013 MLB playoffs live stream and TV games on Thursday night will feature Game 1 of both of the NLDS best-of-5 matchups. In the early matchup, St. Louis hosts Pittsburgh, while in the late night matchup, the NL East and NL West winning teams face off. It will be the Dodgers vs. Braves with the MLB playoffs live online and live on TV thanks to TBS and the MLB website.
An MLB.com report from Oct. 2 indicates that the Braves will start Kris Medlen on the mound tonight. Medlen just recently received NL Pitcher of the Month honors in September, and has compiled a 15-12 record with a 3.11 ERA, impressive numbers since returning from Tommy John surgery for this first full season. Even more impressive may be his last six starts which saw him go 5-0 with just a 0.84 ERA.
Despite all that, the Braves will face a tough test in pitcher Clayton Kershaw who is considered the leading National League Cy Young candidate for this season. Kershaw was 16-9 overall with a stunning 1.83 ERA and 232 strikeouts over 33 games. Braves star Justin Upton is quite familiar with Kershaw and recently told the media about the challenge ahead for them:
"He's definitely at the top of his craft. He's one of those guys, you can tell when you see him out before games, when he's not pitching, he's preparing, so you know he's one of those guys that when he steps on the mound, he's prepared. You just have to be prepared to go at him, too."
Reportedly, the Braves' active roster is not overly familiar with Kershaw's pitching as they are a combined 10-for-69 against him in their at bats. Upton has contributed 29 of those at-bats making him the most familiar. The rest of the team could be in for a long night, as Kershaw had 20 strikeouts in those 69 Braves' at-bats.
Tonight's game will be played at Turner Field in Atlanta, but the Braves will be the underdog in this series, and currently rank sixth overall with odds makers to win the World Series. Tonights game also has Atlanta as the underdogs on their home field at +130, with the Dodgers priced about -140. The over/under runs total is currently set at 6 in several sportsbooks. Weather is expected to be partly cloudy with temperatures in the mid-to-upper 70's for tonight's game.
Thursday night's NLDS Game 1 featuring the LA Dodgers vs. Atlanta Braves has a start time of 8:37 p.m. EST. Television coverage will occur on TBS for cable or satellite TV views.
