Whether vacationers are looking to spread their dollars by not eating in the park, or looking to partake in local favorites - there are a hundred reasons Disneyland fans might be looking for delicious eats outside the park. Well, the LA Disneyland Examiner is bringing you the best places to satisfy those itches that Mickey and friends just can’t scratch, starting with breakfast!
While family-style diners like Denny’s and IHOP abound outside the gates of the Disneyland Resort, the best spots lie just beyond the borders. Donuts, bagels, eggs - no matter what the family craves, Orange County delivers the best!
Bruegger’s Bagels isn’t just a a breakfast cafe, but they’re variety of flavors keep the breakfast lovers delighted. With bagels ranging from savory onion to cheesy Asiago to sweet french toast, keeping everyone in the family happy is no longer unfeasible. (Try the french toast bagel with the Vermont Maple cream cheese!)
Bruegger’s Bagels isn’t in walking distance, but its well-worth the 15-minute drive; drive west on Katella or Ball to the 57 FWY. Head North and get of on the Imperial Hwy Exit. Go East on Imperial Hwy and Bruegger’s will be on the left-hand side (in the Imperial East Shopping Center). Eager (or exhausted) parents can sneak away and bring back breakfast for all, since this fare is easily portable.
If the whole family is looking for a unique place to sit down together, Crepes de Paris in Brea, CA is the perfect cafe. Offering a taste of french delicacies and European flair, Nutella (chocolate hazelnut sauce) and homemade caramel adorn their most popular specialties. Their crepes are made to order and range from savory breakfast ham and cheese to sweet strawberries and cream.
Crepes range in price from around $4 (kids’ menu) to around $8 (for the Deluxe) and their sweet specialties are always served with their homemade chantilly cream!
Crepes de Paris is located in Downtown Brea (just north of Disneyland on the 57). From the north-bound 57, exit on Imperial Hwy and go east. Turn right on Brea Blvd, then left on Birch Street. Parking is available on the street or in two multi-level parking structures.
Best Donuts Near Disneyland
Donut-lovers will be delighted to know that the best donuts on the map are located in Orange County. Its a drive, to be sure, but Dough Boy’s Donuts in Newport Beach is one of those places that hole-in-the-wall legends are made of. Open 24 hours, their small shop caters to late-night snackers and early-morning vacationers. They’re best-known for their cream-filled donuts of nearly every kind - eclairs, Boston cream, Bavarian cream, you name it! Its like no other cream around, handmade and fresh!
Just off of Pacific Coast Hwy, this gem is nestled in an unassuming strip mall just a few blocks from the beach, and about 20 minutes from the Disneyland Resort. Head south on the 5 Fwy, merge onto the 55 South Fwy and follow it until it ends. Turn right at Hospital Road, left at Superior Ave, and left onto Pacific Coast Hwy. Follow it until you can smell the sweet aroma of fresh baked donuts.
