LA County shuts down Porn Health clinic days after actor comes out as HIV+

Los Angeles County Health Department shut down the Sherman Oaks based Health clinic that caters to the LA porn industry, the LA Times reported.

Dr. Jonathon Fielding, LA County Health director explained, “we’ve told the clinic they have to notify people of test results that have already been taken and make appropriate referrals. But they cannot provide new services".

The move comes just one day after HIV + porn actor Derrick Burts, known in the industry as Cameron Reid in straight porn and Derek Chambers in gay porn, exposed serious health risks within the industry. According to Burts, the 24 year-old actor contracted HIV from a positive cast man in a recent shoot. He tested positive for HIV on October 9th.

The Sherman Oaks clinic, which has been working in tandem with LA's porn industry since 1998, had been operating without proper county licensing. The county approached the facility late May explaining their need for the correct documentation, but were shut down today due to a failure to do so.

As the porn industry is now reeling from Burt's revelation that he tested positive at this very same Sherman Oaks clinic, the Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation, whom he also contends knew of the cast mate's HIV status prior to his infection, this move by the county seems far from coincidental.

The clinic, which also holds the confidential database of most of LA's porn actor sexual health history, will be subjected to much further public, county and national scrutiny in the coming weeks, as will, quite possibly, the entire LA based porn industry.
