W.E. As an artist your performances and recordings have the strength of managing to bridge the difficult gap between modern popular and soulful intimate sounds as you evoke jazz, country blues, and more. How do you approach combining the timeless with the timely?
 
R.P. When bridging the huge gap between genres and approach the song is what is most important. A good song can be played in a variety of genres and feels because it has been tested and proven. As an artist, the goal is to the express the tune the way that you feel most represents your style. Do that and you will keep learning and growing. Plus, if you can have a little fun and keep people on their toes, it’s much more worthwhile.
