L'Wren Scott's death update: Jagger in 'state of torment' that's 'beyond belief'

Details emerge today surrounding L’Wren Scott’s death, who was a fashion designer and rocker Mick Jagger’s long-time girlfriend. What could have caused the 49-year-old Scott so much pain as to take her own life by hanging from a scarf on a doorknob in her NYC apartment? Some close to her say while they never thought this would happen, her business life was falling apart.

L'Wren Scott found dead, she hung herself on doorknob with a scarf. She was the girlfriend of Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger.

According to Fox News on March 18, the rumor that Scott was depressed over the recent breakup with Jagger is called “a horrible and inaccurate piece of gossip during this very tragic time for Mick.” Jagger is on tour with the Rolling Stones in Australia and the concert that was scheduled for Wednesday has been canceled, as he is just too distraught over Scott’s death.

A source close to Jagger reports that Jagger’s "state of torment" over Scott’s death is “beyond belief” today. Scott’s recent business problems may have caused her to spiral into such a deep depression that was so painful she saw taking her own life as the only way to stop the pain.

Her death comes on the heels of Scott pulling out of London Fashion Week due to “production delays in key show and couture pieces.” It is also reported that the fashion designer, who once had celebrities like Nicole Kidman, Angelina Jolie and Madonna wearing her creations on the red carpet, was about $7 million in debt.

Scott’s last morning:

Scott called her assistant at 8:30 a.m. on Monday morning and asked her to come to her Manhattan apartment, but when the assistant arrived at 10 a.m., she found Scott dead, according to Fox 411 on March 18.

Scott’s assistant found her hanging by a scarf around her neck on a doorknob in her apartment. Her death is being called an “apparent suicide,” but the medical examiner still has not released her official cause of death. Police do not feel foul-play is involved in this case. Scott did not leave a suicide note.

People who were in her very tight circle of friends are shocked, devastated and “no one can believe she actually did it,” said a source close to Scott.
