L’Wren Scott, the fashion designer and the girlfriend of Mick Jagger, was found dead today. Scott was discovered hanging in her apartment on Monday morning. She was discovered dead just a little more than an hour after calling her assistant and asking her to come over. Mick Jagger is “completely shocked and devastated" by the news of the 47-year-old former model’s death, according to the New York Daily News on March 17.
Scott’s assistant received a call from her at about 8:30 a.m. asking her to come to her Manhattan apartment. She arrived at about 10 a.m. and let herself in with a key. This is when she found Scott, hanging by a scarf, which was tied to a doorknob and called 911.
This hanging is considered a suicide right now by the police, but they are waiting for the medical examiner’s office to determine the cause of death. Police do not suspect foul play in Scott’s death. She did not leave a suicide note.
Jagger relayed his message via a spokesperson that he is “completely shocked and devastated by the news” of her death. Jagger and Scott met in 2001. She was a high-fashion model turned designer who became famous for her creations worn by celebrities such as Angelina Jolie, Sarah Jessica Parker and Nicole Kidman.
She’s also designed costumes for movies such as “Ocean’s Thirteen,” “Eyes Wide Shut” and the Martin Scorese documentary “Shine a Light,” which is about the Rolling Stones.
