      Change For Melissa

      I look at her

      take in the

      woman

      I married

      I use

      to look at the

      women

      I dated

      for hours

      to bury

      something to memory

      back then

      I knew

      I wasnt a keeper

      I was

      lost

      just wanting

      years I stop wanting

      slept with married women

      knowing

      you cant get hurt

      if your not going anywhere

      now

      whats different

      I  look at her

realize no more long looks for memory

      just for me

      now

      like the morning now

      her eyes closed

      I wonder

      when the road changed

Dont think just do for Melissa

Early tuesday get up round 7 am

      a girl in your bed

      makes you want to linger

      in the morning

most days up by 6 am

      and working

      insecure

you want to hold her longer

      mistakes

      a long list

      of days

      that cant be changed

      a pot of coffee

      a walk

      to put money

      in her meter

      moved to hollywood

no parking to be found at night

      so you let her sleep

      walk half a block

      dont think

      just do

      old fashioned

      like a man should be

      dont think just do

      A Photo for Melissa

      A photo of her

      wearing my shirt

      just my shirt

      my heart

      is a muscle

      that just wants to lift

      the right heart

      time spent

      always time

      trying to understand

      how to hold a heart

      a photo

I could look at her as she sleeps

      this photo holds me

      long

      landing always bout the landing

      flying is easy

      months can go by

      before you land

      its called the honeymoon stage

      a new kiss

      a new body

      a new heart

      loving and living past that

      are

      what we all

      want

I know when i look at that

      photo

      thats what i want
