L.A. mattress retailer flirts with in-store romance

While most places that sell mattresses allow customers to sit or stretch out on their potential new purchase, Dream On Beverly has taken consumerism a bit further. The West Hollywood retailer is now providing an intimate bedroom setting so that would-be buyers can spend quality time with the big pad before it's bought.

The showroom features top-drawer, handcrafted mattresses that are all manufactured in Southern California. The longstanding company is also recognized for designing king-sized mattresses as large as 10 feet in length by 12 feet in width, with bed frames crafted specifically to handle those giant pallets.

Within the comfort and privacy of a secluded and darkened environment, customers are able to experience what it feels like to rest on a $9,500 mattress for however long as they desire within normal business hours.

"This room has everything needed to promote sleep, including blackout shades, the right room temperature and the right colors," company founder and owner Gary Trudell told the Hollywood Reporter. The special bedroom was decorated by interior designer Julia Wong.

Between the natural bedding and the tranquility that engulfs it, customers that might be in need of some shut-eye will likely drop off into a deep sleep that could last for hours.

Meanwhile, couples searching for a different type of shopping experience may discover a little romance along the way. After all, when was the last time you took your spouse or partner on a shopping spree and ended up spending the majority of your time smiling, cuddling and dreaming sweet thoughts?

Dream On Beverly is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Sunday by appointment.
