L.A. Guns, best known for the 90s hits “The Ballad of Jayne,” “Kiss My Love Goodbye” and “It’s Over Now,” will open for Skid Row and Saliva on the United World Rebellion Tour at Braun’s Concert Cove in Akron on Friday, September 6.
The first incarnation of L.A. Guns was formed by Tracii Guns in 1983 but disbanded two years later following its merger with the group Hollywood Rose, becoming the first lineup of Guns N’ Roses. Guns and singer Paul Black later reformed the group with Mick Cripps and Nickey Alexander. Black was eventually replaced by former Girl singer Phil Lewis and former Faster Pussycat bassist Kelly Nickels were later added to the group. Alexander was later replaced by former W.A.S.P. drummer Steve Riley and thus the classic lineup of L.A. Guns was complete. The band achieved moderate success in the late 1980s and early 1990s, but continued to change lineups with Guns eventually leaving to form the hard rock supergroup Brides of Destruction with Nikki Sixx then forming his own version of L.A. Guns with former members as Phil Lewis’ version of the band still existed as well.
The 2013 line-up of the hard rock band consists of Phil Lewis (vocals), Michael Grant (guitar), Scott Griffin (bass) and Steve Riley (drums).
The Phil Lewis-fronted version of L.A. Guns released Hollywood Forever in June 2012.
