Kyocera wants to put an end to 'Fragiphoniphobia' with Hydro Life

Kyocera has done it again with a cool looking durable Android phone for T-Mobile and MetroPCS customers.

In fact, Kyocera says this might be the perfect phone for those suffering from "fragiphoniphobia" or a fear of fragile phones.

In a recent comScore survey of smartphone users, it was revealed that 73 percent of consumers said drop protection or scratch-proof/shatter-proof screens are the feature they would most like to see in their smartphones. Also, 62 percent of the respondents said they expect waterproofing will be a standard feature on possibly their next phone.

Kyocera has released their Hydro Life model, a waterproof 4G Android phone that meets Military Standards for 810G drop- and it's shock-proof. This is a phone that not only can handle drops and rough handling, but it also spills and the elements.

“The Hydro Life is a perfect option for someone who leads an active lifestyle, wants access to the latest technology and apps, but needs a smartphone that can withstand the elements,” explains Jason Young, senior vice president of marketing at T-Mobile. “At T-Mobile, we partnered with Kyocera to match a rugged smartphone with the only nationwide network built data strong.”

This would be the ideal phone for the outdoorsy person, the extreme athlete or anyone who is rough with a smartphone.

The Kyocera Hydro Life will be available for T-Mobile customers at Wal-Mart stores starting August 8 for just $124.99 (+taxes & fees.) MetroPCS will sell the Hydro Life starting on August 29.

The Hydro Life is a smartphone that can give your peace of mind.

"Many of us have let the fear of fragile phones constrain our lives while many other solutions are either budget busters, too bulky or lack the best Android smartphone experience,” adds Eric Anderson, senior vice president and general manager of global sales and marketing at Kyocera Communications Inc. "Hydro Life delivers everyday durability with the right design and feature set; while remaining very economical for cost-conscious households. Combined with fast, affordable 4G from the un-carrier, it’s a big win for on-the-go consumers.”

Kyocera Hydro Life specs:

4.5-inch impact-resistant IPS qHD touchscreen
Reinforced housing and non-slip finish
2,000 mAh lithium ion battery
Kyocera's proprietary Eco Mode and MaxiMZR app
Wi-Fi calling support and Wi-Fi Hotspot capability
5.0-megapixel rear-facing and 2-megapixel front-facing cameras

Kyocera's products are designed with durability in mind and the Hydro Life is no exception. I recommend you take a look at making this your next smartphone.
