Bangor --- The Nokomis Warriors girls basketball team went on a 12-0 run to end the game in a 45-40 class B girls basketball semifinal victory over the Camden Hills Windjammers Wednesday afternoon.
Kylie Richards picked the perfect time to break out of her shooting slump and score her only three points of the game.
Richards gave the Nokomis Warriors a 43-40 lead with 58 seconds remaining when she hit her only three pointer of the game. Richards missed her first four attempts.
"It was crazy. We knew we had to make the shot. We knew we needed to get the momentum to go our way,"Richards said. "Coach said someone needed to want the ball and to make it. I know I can make a shot. It has been a struggle shooting threes this year. I knew it was my time to make it."
Coach Michelle Paradis had all the confidence in Richards.
"If she hadn't taken that shot I would have been mad at her,"Paradis said. "My confidence is always there for them to take that shot. If she hadn't shot I would have come unleashed."
Kelsie Richards hit two free throws late in the fourth quarter to secure the Warriors victory.
Jordan Knowlton kept the Windjammers in the game with a 29 point effort. Knowlton was named a Miss Maine basketball semifinalist earlier Wednesday.
Anna Mackenzie controlled the inside game for the Warriors. She recorded 10 points and 10 rebounds. She also held 6'1' center Rachel Points to two points and six rebounds.
