After an intense battle with breast cancer, singer Kylie Minogue came out a survivor and since then she has been working hard to help promote awareness and assist in research of the disease.
Anglia Ruskin University has recognized Minogue’s dedication towards helping to find a cure for breast cancer and they decided to award her efforts with an honorary Doctorate of Health Sciences.
Kylie was all smiles when she addressed the University in her cap and gown. She said;
"I never went to university so my dad will be very proud when he sees the pictures. I am here partly for the work I do promoting breast cancer awareness. When you are diagnosed yourself it becomes a lot more real and you appreciate at first hand the hard work that goes on to support patients through it.”
The singer went on to say that being in the public eye while she battled breast cancer was both a blessing and a curse. Kylie explains;
“A curse because of the constant attention and the press sometimes wanting more information that you want to give, but a blessing because of the love and support I received from complete strangers."
