Kyle Larson wins Nationwide race at Charlotte

Kyle Larson led 82 laps of the 200-lap History 300 NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Saturday en route to his second-career series win. He took the lead on 119 and remained up front the rest of the way, pulling away from a two-car battle for second between Brad Keselowski and Kyle Busch in the closing laps.

"I knew we had a good piece, but not that good," Larson said. "It's not often you see the 54 (Busch) and the No. 22 (Keselowski) getting smaller behind you."

Keselowski came out ahead in the battle for second, forcing Busch to settle for third.
"Kyle and I had a great race," Keselowski said, clarifying that he was referring to Kyle Busch, not Larson.

The Joe Gibbs Racing duo of Busch and Matt Kenseth combined to lead most of the first half of the race. Busch started on the pole and led early before giving way to Kenseth on a restart on lap 29. Kenseth then ran up front until Keselowski was able to take the lead on lap 97. Keselowski's time up front was somewhat short-lived though, as Larson took the lead on lap 119 and remained up front the rest of the way.

Busch drifted outside the top-five in the laps after losing his early lead. For most of the race, he ran just outside the top-five around sixth position until he got off pit road fourth during a caution that came out with 30 laps to go. Keselowski was third on that restart, but when the race got back underway, he quickly moved into second. Busch got up to third with 25 laps to go and the two drivers battled for runner-up honors as Larson drove away with the win.

"I was worried on that last restart, because we weren't good on short runs but great on long runs," Larson said.

Kevin Harvick finished fourth, and Brian Scott was fifth, the highest of any Nationwide Series championship-eligible driver. Finishing sixth through 10 were Kenseth, Regan Smith, Trevor Bayne, Chris Buescher and Ty Dillon.
