Kyle Busch Motorsports driver Parker Kligerman goes into this weekend’s historic Virginia 529 College Savings 250 at Richmond International Raceway with one goal in mind: win the race. The Nationwide Series event is historic in that it’s the 1,000th race for the series, and Kligerman and the KBM No. 77 Toyota Camry team spent two days testing recently at the 0.75-mile track, putting down more than 350 laps.
“Seat time is seat time and it’s especially beneficial for us being a single-car team,” said Kligerman on the KBM website. “Any time we can get on the track and develop ideas and implement things that we think will work on our race cars and actually make laps at a race track it’s a benefit. It’s one thing to come up with new ideas, but when you can actually go out and prove that they help your race cars go faster it’s a confidence booster for the whole team.”
Kligerman has two previous Nationwide Series starts at RIR, both ending in top 15 finishes. In his most recent race in April of this year, Kligerman raced from his starting spot of 30th to knock on the door of the top 10 with an 11th-place finish.
“Everyone on this Kyle Busch Motorsports Nationwide Series program worked well together over the two days to try and find ways to improve upon our finish at Richmond in the spring,” said Kligerman. “I feel like we’ve made gains in our short-track program throughout the season and we were able to work on a couple different packages that incorporated some of the things that we’ve learned since we raced there in April. We are really looking forward to having a strong run for everyone that supports this No. 77 Toyota Camry. Through everyone’s hard work I’m confident that we will be able to go there and run inside the top 10 and hopefully if you can do that, when it comes down to the end of the race, if things go your way, you can keep improving with each stop and be in contention for the win.”
Qualifying for the Virginia 529 College Savings 250 takes place Friday at 4:05 p.m. ET, followed by the green flag at 7:30 p.m. ET. Keep up with the action at www.nascar.com and www.kylebuschmotorsports.com.
