Kyle Busch Motorsports driver Parker Kligerman will be driving a special No. 77 Toyota Camry this weekend in the Kansas Lottery 300 at Kansas Speedway: the car will feature a special Kyle Busch Foundation “Project Pink: Protect Your Pair” paint scheme in an effort to raise awareness and money for Pretty In Pink - a Raleigh, North Carolina-based foundation whose mission is to provide financial assistance to uninsured and underinsured breast cancer patients regardless of their ability to pay.
“We are running a special ‘Project Pink’ paint scheme this week to help the Kyle Busch Foundation raise awareness and money for the Pretty in Pink Foundation – a North Carolina group that helps women who are uninsured or underinsured pay their medical costs,” said Kligerman on the KBM website. “I’ve never driven a pink car, so I’m really excited about that. Kyle and Samantha and their foundation have a lot going on during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month to help raise money to help those people – they are hosting a fundraising dinner next week which I’ll be attending and there will be a mobile mammogram screening unit out at KBM next Thursday from 1 to 7 p.m. (ET). As a NASCAR driver it is always rewarding to be a part of giving back to the community in projects like this and hopefully we can make a difference in these people’s lives. Kligerman has one win at Kansas Speedway already – a 2009 ARCA Racing Series victory, where the then-19-year-old led 75 of the race’s 103 laps and took is eighth checkered flag of the season. He turned around that weekend and won the pole for his Nationwide Series debut at Kansas – the outside pole sitter was none other than his current boss.
“It was a big weekend for my career in terms of making a name for myself on the national stage in NASCAR,” said Kligerman. “Winning the pole in my first-ever start - only 10 other drivers have ever done that including Dale Earnhardt - and to beat my current owner Kyle Busch to earn it, that was just a huge deal and at that time I didn’t really realize the enormity of it. Ever since, Kansas is just a place I really enjoy racing at and seem to run well at - it’s one of my favorite mile-and-a-half tracks."
Qualifying for the Kansas Lottery 300 takes place Saturday at 11:05 p.m. CT, followed by the green flag at 2:30 p.m. CT. Keep up with the action at www.nascar.com and www.kylebuschmotorsports.com.
