2012 marks the third season of existence for Kyle Busch Motorsports in the Camping World Truck Series, but the team’s first full season in the Nationwide Series. 2012 also brings two new drivers to the KBM fold: Jason Leffler as primary driver of the #18 Dollar General Toyota Tundra in the Truck Series, and Kyle’s older brother Kurt as a member of the duo competing in the Nationwide Series’ #54 Monster Energy Toyota Camry.
Camping World Truck Series NextEra Energy Resources 250 – Leffler will take to the track behind the wheel of the #18 for the first time at Daytona International Speedway with Friday night’s running of the NextEra Energy Resources 250. Leffler has two previous Truck Series starts at Daytona with an average finish of 20.5; he has one pole at the track, and an average starting position of 3.0. Leffler has had success in the Nationwide Series at the track, with six top 10s and a pole in 16 starts.
Nationwide Series DRIVE4COPD 300 – Kyle Busch will drive the #54 at Daytona on Saturday afternoon, also racing in the next four events before handing the wheel over to Kurt. Busch put on an amazing display of driving skills in last Saturday’s Bud Shootout driving for Joe Gibbs Racing, saving the car not once but twice from certain doom on the aprons. Busch has 16 previous starts in the Nationwide Series at Daytona, coming away with one win, eight top 10s and an average finish of 13.7.
