Each week during the high school sports season the High School Sports Examiner and the Eastern Maine Sports Blog will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations to Marc at firstname.lastname@example.org
When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination.
2013/2014 Winter season- Week 5-December 30th-January 5th
Kyle Bouchard- Houlton- basketball- The junior scored 36 points including his 1000 career point in 84-74 victory over Washington Academy. Scored 15 points in 49-47 victory over Caribou.
Bouchard has led the Shiretowners to an 8-0 record.
He is the second Houlton student/athlete to earn AOW.
Corbyn Bruce- Foxcroft- wrestling- The senior competed in the prestigious Noble Tournament.. This two day tournament had 40 teams from Maine, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island. Corbyn wrestled four matches in the tournament. He won his first match 10-1, and won his next three matches by pins. In the finals he pinned his opponent from Winslow in 2:58. Corbyn is a 2X State Runner-Up, and Regional and PVC Champion.
Jake Rioux- Van Buren- basketball- Scored 40 points in 58-57 loss to Fort Fairfield. Scored 14 points in 66-50 win over Southern Aroostook.
Trevor Fogarty- Dexter- basketball- Recorded 16 points, six rebounds, six assists, and two steals in 53-40 victory over PCHS. Scored nine points in 52-46 loss to Bucksport.
Kyle Ham- Central- basketball- Scored 20 points in 60-49 win over Mattanawcook.
Chris Hudson- Hodgdon- basketball- Scored 25 points in 72-52 victory over Southern Aroostook.
Jay Chen- Lee- basketball- Scored 24 points on six three pointers in 73-50 victory over Schenck. Scored 19 points in 56-40 win over Penquis.
Andre Rossignol- Van Buren- basketball- Scored 29 points in 66-50 win over Southern Aroostook.'
