Japanese recording artist Kyary Pamyu Pamyu is rolling into Club Nokia this Sunday, February 16! As a part of her Nanda Collection World Tour, she is touring in multiple countries including a show in Los Angeles.
Kyary Pamyu Pamyu began her career as a fashion blogger and a professional model before surfacing as a musical artist. In 2011, she released her first promotional single, “PonPonPon,” which entered the Billboard Japan Top 100 chart at #72 and has accumulated over 60 million views on YouTube as of today. Kyary Pamyu Pamyu has won multiple MTV Video Music Awards in Japan including Best Pop Video and Best Karaoke Song for “Fashion Monster.” In May 2012, she released her first full album titled, Pamyu Pamyu Revolution, selling 200,000 copies.
Recently, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu has been receiving global attention, especially in the Western media. Her music career has taken her to the United States, Canada, Australia, Hong Kong, France, Germany and England for world tours.
Her fashion style has also garnered widespread media attention and she is frequently referred to as “Japan’s Lady Gaga.” Her fashion sense features colorful and exotic costumes worn throughout events such as concerts and music award shows.
