Kwame Kilpatrick gets up to 5 years in prison (YouTube.com video shows shocked courtroom reaction)

You can hear the audible gasps in the below Youtube.com video -- not gasps from Kwame Kilpatrick -- but others in the courtroom as Judge David Groner reads off a lists of violations leading to his sentencing of the former Detroit mayor of up to 5 years in prison.

Telling Kwame he must "understand your crime and consequences," the judge said that "This court is satisfied that the 120 days did nothing to rehabilitate you...you lied in this courtroom...lied in the affidavit" and that his sentencing "must now correlate to reflect the above compelling reasons" given as justification for the up to 5 years in a Michigan Federal Correctional facility.

Saying that Kilpatrick's incarceration must reflect the seriousness of the crimes of violating probation and such, Judge Groner read off the sentencing that drew gasps:

"Therefore you will serve a maximum of 5 years --"

"Oh God!" one person can be heard explaining followed by cries of "Shhh!" for others to quiet down.

Kwame looks around at those in attendance as the judge proclaims that "$860,000 will be paid as an obligation of parole," saying Kilpatrick's obligation to the city does not go away.
