We knew with the 20th anniversary coming up and we knew there was going to be a lot of media interest" said Seattle Police Department Cold Case Detective Mike Ciesynski according to Billboard.com article "Note From Kurt Cobain's Wallet Scorning Courtney Love Released by Seattle Police."
And interest there has been, both on the national stage and amongst Seattle townsfolk. With the advent of the 20th anniversary, the media has been treated to a few new items of public interest, namely, photos from the death scene and the famous suicide note, written to (presumably) no one in particular.
In the note, his wife Courtney Love is referenced in a scathing manner, “Do you Kurt Cobain take Courtney Michelle Love to be your lawful shredded wife even when she’s a [expletive] with zits and siphoning all yr money for doping and whoring…"
As far as the mocking of Courtney Love, it should be noted that the famous duo had a history of drug issues and domestic abuse. In stark contrast, they also wrote love songs about each other.
So what information can we gather from these two items?
- The 35 new Kurt Cobain photos show nothing revealing, except for a few different perspectives of the suicide note, which was pinned to the dirt in a plant at the scene.
- In a previously released suicide note, the original words had been, “a goddess ... who sweats ambition and empathy.” This newly released suicide note could be a shocking glimpse inside the celebrity marriage, although it is uncertain who penned it, as Cobain has not been verified as the author.
It stands to reason this may now be a closed case as far as the Seattle Police Department is concerned, but for the public still interested in the possible conspiracies surrounding Kurt's untimely demise, this suicide note is another critical piece of damning evidence.
