Kryie Irving injured: Sprained left shoulder injury could end season for Irving

Kyrie Irving is injured with a sprained left shoulder. The Cleveland Cavaliers may have lost Irving for the season and the news is equally bad for fantasy basketball owners trying to prepare for league playoffs. According to a report from ESPN on Monday (March 11), Irving was hurt in a loss against the Toronto Raptors on Sunday night (March 10).

The injury reportedly took place when Irving collided with Raptors forward Jonas Valanciunas while trying to drive the baseline in the third quarter. Irving hit his shoulder hard against him and ended up having to get it looked at. X-rays following the game came back negative, but then an MRI taken Monday in Cleveland revealed a left AC (acromioclavicular) sprain. Once again, it looks like he could miss some serious time, raising concerns that he won't be able avoid injuries in the NBA.

With Kyrie Irving injured and only weeks left in the regular season, it is very likely that the Cleveland Cavaliers could shut him down now. That is not something that is going to help fantasy basketball owners and this may be the time to simply waive him and find someone else to fill in during league playoffs. Unfortunately he is still protected from being dropped in many leagues, so this will make it even tougher for owners to survive losing him.
