Kronik Entourage Low Carb Energy drink gets better and better

Kronik hit it out of the park with their Low Carb Entourage flavor.  This one was a redo of another version they had years ago, something overly sour and did not work at all.   This one is leaner, meaner, and definite winner in my energy drink cooler. Kronik was nice enough to hook me up with this can for a review.   My only regret is now I have to go on the hunt to find more.

Packaging:7
This design is more or less the same variety as their other low carb cans, only with orange on plain bare aluminum as the background. I never really liked cans that use bare metal as a color - as it usually strikes me as cheap. In this case it works OK, but the can itself does not really stand out on the shelves. With a drink this good, that really is a shame, as so many people won't know the deliciousness that awaits them inside.

The overall design works, and the two smartest things they did was list caffeine (thank you muchly), but also place the Splenda logo on there, so consumers that might have an issue about that won't buy it and be disappointed. The double facing is nice, but it would have been better if they placed the lids of the can on right.

Taste:9
This was more than an orange drink - I had my mouth spinning citrus circles with grapefruit, mandarin orange, and a hint of sour lemon on top of the great orange flavors. The closest I cold come up with is that it had the flavor of orange sherbet - only with a little kick. This is like the original revisited Entourage - only without the High Fructose Corn Syrup.

The older Entourage was not one of my favorites, using real orange juice proved to just add calories, and not really help the taste. I know people will give me a hard time for this, but I LOVED the non-juice Splenda sweetener in here - it works like Sweet-n-Low in Lipton Iced Tea. Some things were just born to go together and this is one of those awesome if not slightly unhealthy pairings. If there was a Kronik Entourage Low Carb in my local convenience store, you bet I would be buying this on a daily basis. If you were wishing for an orange flavored energy drink that was still powerful, but did not pack in the calories like NOS, this might be right up your alley.

Buzz:8
Like the high-carb Entourage, this one has 2000 milligrams of taurine, 100 milligrams of Guarana and Ginseng extract, glucosamine, milk thistle and insotol, and just a bit of licorice and grape seed extract because they must have had it lying aound. On top of that, there is all your daily intake of vitamin B and Vitamin C along with a decent 150mg of caffeine, just a bit under normal energy drink standards. Of course, the 200mg of guarana might boost up the energy quotient a bit too.

I got a decent buzz - nothing crazy. It woke me up in the morning and helped me concentrate for about 2 - 3 hours, before leaving my dried up carcass to haul to the energy drink fridge for another pick-me-up. The cool thing about this being only 150mg of caffeine is I could enjoy drinking two of these in a row without being over the top jittery!
