Kroger honoring breast cancer survivor associates
Kroger food stores are doing their part when it comes for showing support when it comes to Breast Cancer Awareness month in October.
Kroger is committing $3 million dollars in donations for local breast cancer initiatives across the country to show their support.
Kroger’s annual Giving Hope a Hand Campaign had kicked off on Sunday in its stores. Kroger will be featuring 53 of their own associates that are breast cancer survivors who will appear on marketing materials and custom packages of national-brand and Kroger-brand products.
David Dillon, Kroger Chairman and CEO had stated that they are honored to have so many courageous associates willing to share their stories as survivors of breast cancer.
"Their inspirational stories educate and encourage others to better care for each other and their own health."
Stories as those like Missy Veeder, is featured this year on packages of Kraft shredded cheese. Her inspirational story of survival along with other courageous women can be seen at SharingCourage.com, an interactive website dedicated to raising breast cancer awareness.
The campaign will feature store wide sales promotions of popular items and many of those will feature exclusive specially marked pink packing. This year 1,600 items will be featured including Kroger-brand products and products from Kroger partners such as Kellogg’s , Kraft, Purina, Pepsi and more.
In conclusion of the years end more than $18 million dollars to support breast cancer research, education and services from Kroger since they had began Give Hope a Hand in 2006.
Other companies support the cause of Breast Cancer Awareness and selling pink ribbon products include the following:
Avon: Avon Breast Cancer Crusade funds breast cancer research along with screening, early detection and treatment programs.
The Pink Ribbon Shop: Has donated over $27,000 to various organizations to find a cure for cancer, assist cancer patients and reduce cancer deaths through education initiatives that promote early detection.
The Red Envelope; 10% of each sale from their “pink ribbon collection” are donated to Susan G. Komen race for the cure®,
Other stores such as Meijer carry pink ribbon produce to raise money for their local Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure affiliates.
