The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County
and Mad Cat Theatre Company present a world premier; ‘Going Green the Wong Way’ with stand-up comedian Kristina Wong telling the story of her year running her car on used vegetable oil. This is not as easy as it may sound. Travel with her through the trials and tribulations of actually finding the used oil and the nightmare of never-ending car repairs. Thrill to the climactic finish on the L.A. freeway.

Of course, this doesn’t entirely describe her ‘act’. This comedic performance artist, who, as she puts it, has been an environmental martyr since age 11, recounts the hilarious and misfortunate adventures of her life-long attempt at sustainable living, and the challenges and triumphs of being eco-friendly. We’re not just talking ‘paper or plastic’ at the grocery store here.

Kristina Wong, a solo performer on the national stage is a writer, actor, educator, and self-proclaimed “culture jammer.” Described by the East Bay Express as "brutal but hilarious... a woman who takes life's absurdities very seriously," her body of performance work includes short and full-length solo performance works, outrageous street theater stunts and pranks, subversive internet installations, and plays and sketch comedy. http://kristinawong.com

Noted for her quirky, offbeat, sometimes subversive and always brutally funny work, Wong tackles her fourth full-length solo show with the help of acclaimed actor/director Paul Tei, who first discovered Wong performing in Miami at the 2008 South Beach Comedy Festival. The performance was recently featured on Comedy Central.
Tei is a Miami Native, now starring in Burn Notice on the USA network. http://paultei.com
The Mad Cat Theatre Company, founded by Paul Tei in 2000, sounds like a rock band, sells cool clothes and lets their audiences drink during performances! I agree. Sipping furtively from a small flask can result in spillage. http://madcattheatre.org

Using the best of South Florida's theatrical talent, including resident playwright Marco Ramirez, Mad Cat is committed to creating an outlet for young people looking for an alternative to the numbing of clubbing, bad blockbuster movies and your mom and dad's tired old theater.

Mad Cat’s award-winning design team includes original song stylings and sound effects of Matt Corey.

The set design and props are done by Mad Cat newcomer but Adrienne Arsht Center regular, Elaine Bryan, and Wong’s costumes were inspired by the contents of a neighborhood dumpster.
If your entertainment tastes go from ‘WOW to OMG’ don’t miss this nationally breaking performer. You can tell your friends you saw her when….

As a pre-show to the world premiere of “Going Green the Wong Way” performance artist Brian Feldman offers up a simple tribute in the Carnival Studio Theatre Lobby guaranteed to get you in the mood to go green... the Feldman and/or Wong way. http://brianfeldman.com
