Kristina Wong at Light Box, Goldman Warehouse

Tonight, Friday January 4th, 2013 at 8PM LA-based artist, performer and filmmaker Kristina Wong will take theater spectators to a hilarious and slightly frightening journey at Light Box, Goldman Warehouse with her performance entitled CAT LADY, a show about suicide and depression.

Kicking off MAD CAT Theater 13th season (through January 20th) CAT LADY performances are Thursdays through Saturdays at 8PM and Sundays at 2PM.

Directed by MAD CAT Theater’s Paul Tei, CAT LADY is written by Kristina Wong in which this time in a full length piece, with veteran actors Ken Clement, Jessica Farr and Noah Levine as a superb ensemble cast, Wong explores her relationship with her cat and comically nudges the audience into a world where PUA’s (Pick up artists) actually go to seminars to learn the craft.

The message is serious yet delivered with an avant garde comedic intensity which doesn’t have to sell its premise. It gets delivered in hilarious bursts of consciousness by a true artisan of the craft. The subcultures of cat ladies and male pick-up artists form the nucleus of a performance rife with both nuanced and over the top comic inventiveness.

Only a performer, culture jammer and educator as Kristina Wong is capable of delivering a show about suicide and depression and still make the audience laugh while getting the message.
