Athlete, busy mother of two, and American icon, Kristi Yamaguchi knows the importance of staying healthy and fit. In 2011 she released a workout video, Kristi Yamaguchi: Power Workout, which she produced with celebrity trainer Erin O’Brien. It’s divided into three separate 10-minute segments, plus an additional bonus segment for abs and chest. The short segments are perfect for busy moms.
The Celebrity Moms Examiner recently had a chance to talk with Kristi Yamaguchi about her workout video and how she stays in such great shape. She shares her inspiration behind putting the video together and states that having kids and being a mom, she didn’t always want to leave the house to get her exercise in. She says she was already doing workouts along with the TV and producing the video just seemed like a natural fit for other active women.
She playfully laughs about the video and says, “It makes me sore when I do it.”
When asked how she stays in such great shape, she laughs again and says, “Yeah, it’s not always easy.” Then she goes on to explain that she’s like any other mom, going through waves of being really active and taking care of herself, then periods of not doing so great. But she knows she’s better off when she does take the time to take care of herself.
“Being active my whole life I know that I do feel better and have more energy when I am active and do look after myself. And that just makes it easier to then look after my kids.”
She does admit though that it’s hard to get that time. She says it’s really just working it into your schedule because if you just wait for the right time, it will never come up.
Of course, workout videos like Kristi’s can make it easier for busy moms to get that time in.
The video can be found on her website, and, as with other things that she produces, a portion of the proceeds go to her Always Dream Foundation, which aims to create a positive impact in the lives of children.
