Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson’s ‘tragic’ lives: Stephenie Meyer to blame?

Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson have struggled with being under the spotlight ever since “Twilight” became a box office success. It’s possible that the couple didn’t know what they were signing on for when they pursued the roles of Bella Swan and Edward Cullen, and now author Stephenie Meyer is feeling guilty about Robsten’s lack of privacy. According to a March 17 report by Entertainmentwise, Meyer admits that she wouldn’t trade places with Kristen or Rob.

She told The Times this about the couple: “Here's the thing: there are some actors who are looking to be world famous, to be that household name, and although they might discover that there are a lot of negative things involved in that, it's what they want. But that doesn't apply to Kristen and Rob. That's what makes it kind of ironic and tragic.”

So perhaps Stephenie Meyer believes that Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson are experiencing relationship troubles because of all the attention that they get. They’ve probably felt pressure from “Twilight” fans to be this perfect fantasy couple just like Bella and Edward, and this might have something to do with why Kristen cheated -- she ruined this fantasy for fans by having a fling with Rupert Sanders, so now some of the pressure to be perfect is gone.

Stephenie Meyer also said that she feels guilty that she gets to enjoy the low-key lifestyle that Kristen and Rob seem to crave. Here’s what she said about the fan frenzy Robsten has had to deal with: “At the same time -- and this is where the guilt comes from -- it's created this nice, peaceful place for me. They took all of my heat, which I feel bad about. If they had the choice, I've no idea if they'd even do ‘Twilight’ again. I just don't know. I think this has all come at a heavy price.”

It’s an interesting question that Kristen and Rob would have to think about very carefully. Without “Twilight,” they likely wouldn’t have started dating, and they probably wouldn’t have been presented with the other opportunities they’ve been given. Now that they have all that “Twilight” money, they can spend the rest of their lives only pursuing projects that they’re passionate about.

So do you think that Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson regret signing on to play Bella and Edward?
