Kristen Bell baby news: Why she named her daughter Lincoln (Photos)

The Kristen Bell baby bump watch is over. She gave birth to a healthy girl, according to a report from the Los Angeles Times on March 28. This is her first child with Dax Shepard. The couple named their daughter Lincoln Bell Shepard, and the unusual name for a girl has lead to many questions about why they selected it.

The proud parents, Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard, shared their joy on Twitter. Dax posted, “Lincoln Bell Shepard is here. She has mom's beauty and dad's obsession with breasts.” Kristen later tweeted, “My new roomate [sic] poops her pants and doesn't pay rent . . . basically @daxshepard1 pre-sobriety :) welcome baby Lincoln xo.”

Why did Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard name their daughter Lincoln? Some sources claim that they expected to have a boy, so the name may have been originally picked out for him. Others believe that the real reason for the name is tied to Dax Shepard’s obsession with his 1967 Lincoln. Shepard calls the car “Lady Lincoln,” and in an interview last year he stated that he loved the car more than Kristen. Dax even wrote a film that included the classic car.

Now that the Kristen Bell baby is here, the next question that many are wondering about is the date of their wedding. Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard became engaged in 2010, but they have no plans to set a wedding date until “everyone else can,” and marriage equality becomes the law.
