In the first episode of a new 8-episode video series produced by Josh Duhamel, Bell explains why she is so passionate about the adoption of homeless animals.

“If you’re going to a breeder you are creating more of a problem by buying new, when there are thousands and thousands of pets in your area that are delicious and just waiting for someone to take them in,” Bell said in the video, which was released on March 3.

Bell is the first of eight celebrities, including Adam Shankman and Brett Michaels, who are speaking out about this cause, each in their own episode of Rescue Waggin': Tales from the Road.

The web series chronicles real stories of dogs and puppies from communities with more pets than adopters to communities where adoptable pets are in demand.

Like Bell, Duhamel, who has vowed to use his own production company Dakotakid Media to share the word about homeless animal adoption, has experienced the joys of owning an adopted dog.

“Adopting my dachshund, Meatloaf, changed my life. He was a clumsy little dude with horrible breath–but we adored him," he said. "I tell anybody who's going to get a pet that adoption is the only way to go, not just because it's the right thing to do, but because they make incredible pets. I’m honored to partner with PetSmart Charities to help share the joy of pet adoption with others.”

Although Meatloaf has passed, Duhamel can't wait to adopt another dog as soon as his son, Axl, gets a bit older.
