Kris Jenner said she cries herself to sleep over son Rob Kardashian's weight gain and emotional problems.
Jenner made the admission on the July 27 episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians during a family vacation to Thailand. Kris said she felt helpless at not being able to "fix" Rob's reclusiveness and depression, as well as his ongoing weight issues, which Rob himself has cried over on the show.
"I have not not cried myself to sleep in so long that I don't even know what that's like," said Jenner. "I want to fix Rob and sometimes you just can't. It's the worst feeling in the world when one of your kids isn't in a good place."
During the past three years, the once buff Rob has become increasingly reclusive and depressed. He has scaled back dramatically on being filmed for "Keeping Up With the Kardashians," and has skipped numerous family outings, vacations and public events.
On Verge of Diabetes and Kidney Problems
On May 24, Rob skipped sister Kim's lavish Italian wedding at the last minute. Sources said Rob was embarrassed by his 70-pound weight gain and felt out of place with all the slim, attractive guests at Kim's star-studded wedding.
Kardashian's dramatic weight gain has been an ongoing source of concern for his family, who are not only worried about his physical health, but his emotional welfare. Rob's sister Kourtney previously pointed out that Rob's serotonin levels were dangerously low. Low serotonin causes depression, anxiety and other mood disorders.
The 5-foot-10 Rob, who reportedly weighs more than 260 pounds, has made no secret of his struggle to slim down. Rob's weight has made numerous headlines, as reports surfaced that he was considering stomach-stapling surgery or going to fat camp.
A recent doctor's visit revealed Rob was in danger of developing diabetes and kidney problems. “Your liver is shutting down,” said Rob's mother, Kris Jenner. “This is life-threatening at this point. You can only sustain this level of being unhealthy for so long.”
Kim Lost 56 Pounds on Low-Carb Ketogenic Atkins Diet
Kim Kardashian recently made headlines after saying she has no sympathy for Rob because she's fed up with his self-pitying ways.
"We've all been here to offer him help and he won't take it, so I don't have sympathy," said Kim. "I think I'm just more of the tough love kind of person. My personality is like, 'You complain [about your weight], you don't like it. Now get up and do something about it.' "
Meanwhile, newlywed Kim has maintained her stunning 56-pound weight loss by working out daily and following the low-carb Atkins diet, a high-fat ketogenic-style diet known for producing rapid weight loss.
Kim said losing the baby weight was the hardest thing she had ever done, but also one of the most rewarding. The 5-foot-3 Kim recently revealed she weighs 125 pounds — five pounds less than her pre-baby weight. "I work out so hard and this was such a challenge for me but I did it!" she tweeted. "I'm so proud of my accomplishment."
