Kris Humphries got rid of a ring yesterday at an auction in New York City. On Oct. 15, Huffington Post reported that Kris got $620,000 for the engagement ring that he bought Kim Kardashian (the auction house charged a markup to get $749,000) which is a far cry from what he reportedly paid -- something like $2 million in 2011. Obviously the ring was "used" hence the price drop... but some thought that since Kim wore it, it would fetch quite a bit more. Evidently not.
"The Lorraine Schwartz-designed ring features a 16.21-carat rectangular-cut center stone with an I color and VS1 clarity, according to Forbes. Two 1.8-carat trapezoid stones bookend the massive rock," Huffington Post reports.
Kris Humphries asked for Kim's ring back after the couple split. Rumors had been swirling that the ring was actually purchased by Kim and thousands of people wondered why she would return a ring that she purchased herself. Evidently that wasn't the case and Kris got rid of the ring the best way he could. Sadly he didn't make much of his money back -- but he made something and now he can put that chapter of his life behind him completely... and Kim is reportedly happy about it too.
"Kim has been waiting for the day he would auction it. Everyone always asked what Kim did with the ring -- she silently gave it back over a year ago! And Kris waited until the divorce was final to sell it," a source said.
The Kris Humphries ring will go to a good hand... who knows what will become of the bauble?
