GAINESVILLE, Fla. — College football season is out; Gainesville is lull for the most part because there is not quite enough to do. Well, for men this might be true.
Nevertheless, for the ladies this is not true at all because the season eight winner of “American Idol”, Kris Allen, singer-songwriter, will perform at High Dive Gainesville late January.
Yes, this is right! Kris Allen is on a tour called “Out Alive.” High Dive Gainesville (HDG) has announced that Allen will stop at downtown Gainesville, for a 90 minute concert.
“Having Allen performing at Gainesville is so exciting,” said Rachel Shelley, biology major at the University of Florida. “He’s such a great performer!”
Allen, who gained his popularity after winning “American Idol” season eight in 2009, has released 2 albums with nationwide sales. According to billboard.com, his self-titled album has “‘charted at No. 11 on the Billboard 200.’” And his single, “Live Like We’re Dying,” has vended “‘346,000 copies.’”
Two years after Allen released his first album, he went on releasing his second album titled, “Thank You Camellia.” According to Nielsen SoundScan, Allen’s second album, “Thank You Camellia,” made “‘No.26 … sold 15,622 copies.’”
Yet, after so many album sales, America almost lost the "Idol." On New Year’s Day, Allen and his wife had undergone a car accident where they were both injured. After the Idol undergone a car accident with his wife, he announced to ABC News Entertainment that he “‘was going to be a father.’”
The "Idol" almost was not going to see his baby: His death was spared.
Despite Allen’s recent car accident, he will still hit downtown Gainesville for his live concert on Thursday Jan. 24 at 8p.m.
