Krewe of Cork next week in New Orleans French Quarter

On Friday February 21, 2014, the big parade days begin in the Carnival season leading up to Mardi Gras. The first one, Krewe of Cork, begins in the French Quarter at 3:00 p.m.

The parade is always the two Fridays before Mardi Gras, and the entire day is a celebration of wine, food, and fun. Their costumes are wine and grape flavored, and they stay with this theme every year. During the parade, there are "wine police" on golf carts who make sure that all the krewe members' wine glasses are not empty. Although there are four hundred local members, the krewe has members from all over.

The parade will go on the most famous streets in New Orleans, including Bourbon Street. It will be a good idea to reserve a spot in the area early!
