Krewe loses close game to Orlando

Last November, the Tampa Bay Krewe traveled to Orlando to play the Orlando Rugby Football Club. In that game, Orlando hammered the Krewe by a score of 34 to 3. However, with dramatic improvement from the Tampa Bay club since the Fall, and Orlando coming off its first loss of the season, the match this past weekend proved to be far closer and more competitive than the teams’ previous meeting towards the end of 2011.

Early in the game, the Krewe led Orlando by a score of 17 to 3, and still claimed a 20 to 12 lead at halftime. However, Orlando rebounded with 17 unanswered points in the second half to defeat the Krewe by a final score of 29 (four tries) to 20 (two tries). Fitness appeared to be an Achilles’ heel for Tampa Bay on Saturday, which will give the coaches an area on which to concentrate in upcoming practices. This issue will be addressed in the practices leading up to the next game at Daytona on 03 March. For more on the Tampa Bay Krewe, visit the club’s website at: http://www.krewerugby.com/.
