Kraken Con 2013 is set to breakthrough an increasing popular convention movement with a new event concept in South San Francisco on October 5th.
The Con was created by husband and wife co-founders Stephen and Lindsey Daugherty to provide a unique experience that is both friendly and sociable.
The Daugherty’s say the first of many distinctive ideas begins with the Kraken lounge.
"We created a new concept for our lounge where members of the Tea Time Cafe will act as hosts for Kraken Con and will play games, converse and encourage friendship among attendees," noted Mr. Daugherty.
More ways the hosts will interact with guests include singing, dancing, and serving in the lounge.
Another endeavor of Kraken Con is the layout of the convention. Rather than break apart the convention into various rooms at the South San Francisco Conference Center, most of the Con activities will be held in close proximity to each other fostering a mood of interconnection.
“We have embraced an open concept so that attendees shouldn't feel as though they have been disconnected from the rest of the convention,” said Mr. Daugherty. “Our anime/cartoon viewing area is not a dark theater away from the convention but right in the middle of the exhibit space. Similarly, our workshops are visible to attendees not immediately participating. Only the panel rooms themselves have been kept apart in order to keep their experience an intimate one.”
The Kraken Con will take place on October 5 from 9am-6pm at the South San Francisco Conference Center.
Presale admission is $12.00 or $15.00 at the door. Registration for Kraken Con is available at: http://www.krakencon.com/.
