Kraft Foods has issued a recall on certain food items, according to a CNN report published on May 18, 2014.

The recall involves 1.2 million cases of cottage cheese that Kraft Foods says could spoil prematurely due to improper storage. The potential for spoilage may cause illness.

Included in the recall are Breakstone, Daily Chef, Knudsen, and Simply Kraft brands. The cottage cheese products were shipped only to locations in the United States.

Kraft spokesperson Russ Dyer says the recall was a precautionary move. There haven’t been any reports of illness from the cottage cheese, but Dyer says Kraft is investigating one complaint of illness from someone who consumed another type of cheese.

The recalled items are tub- style cottage cheese ranging in size from 4 to 16 ounces. They have dates stamped on the packages between May 9 and July 23, 2014. The date stamps can be found on either the top or bottom of each package.

Kraft has temporarily halted production of the affected products until the problems are resolved.
