Kovalchuk leads Devils to another big overtime win

Devils sniper Ilya Kovalchuk returned from a one game absence due to injury and led the Devils to a big overtime win with 1 goal and 2 assists, including the game winning assist on Alex Ponikarovsky's goal late in the 1st overtime.

Kovalchuk was flying out there on Thursday night and the miracles of modern science seem to have corrected his lower body injury, which was reported by some to be a herniated disk. Whether he was still feeling it or just running on pure adrenaline, you would have never known as Kovalchuk certainly appeared to have his legs back in the Devils 4-3 victory to take a 2-1 series lead in the best of seven series versus Philadelphia.

The Devils have two days off before game 4 on Sunday evening in Newark and this will give Kovalchuk even more rest to correct whatever ails him. He and the team look to take a stranglehold on this series with a victory on Sunday night, sending the Flyers to the brink of elimination in what would be a 3-1 series lead.
