2011 is shaping up to be a year of big ups and downs for the Kardashian family. On the heels of Kim Kardashian's failed marriage to Kris Humphries, her sister announces that she is pregnant. On Wednesday, news spread like wildfire on the internet. But one Kardashian's happy news only highlights Kim's loss.
Kourtney shared the exciting news about her second pregnancy with E! News earlier today.
“Scott and I are so excited to announce that we are expecting our second child and are thrilled to be expanding the love in our family."
The 32-year-old mother to Mason is overcome with joy. Despite pressure from her mother to wed long time boyfriend Scott Disick before adding to their family, Kourtney decided to proceed with her own agenda. Still in the first trimester, Kourtney jumped the gun on sharing her news long before her baby bump is due to appear.
“Now I’m nine weeks along. You’re supposed to wait 12 weeks to tell people, but I feel confident.”
The news is obviously a happy distraction from Kim's recent heart ache. After splitting with her husband after only 72 days of marriage, the reality star is forced to come to terms with her possibly childless future. In a recent interview Kim talked openly about adjusting her goals.
"At first I was like, I want six kids. Then I went down to four, then I was down to three and now I'm like, maybe I won't have any. Maybe I'll just be a good aunt…At this moment in my life, I feel like maybe I'm not supposed to have kids and all that."
Kim isn't the only Kardashian sibling dealing with issues surrounding having a baby. Sister Khloe has been trying to get pregnant with Lamar Odom for several months. Despite her own difficulties, she has been nothing but loyal and supportive of her other sisters.
