Kosgei, Loeffler, run away with it at the 2010 USA Space City 10-Miler

Assisted by Texas fall temperatures in the mid-60s, Samuel Kosgei and Emily Loeffler won in the overall male and female divisions with times of 48:26.7 and 1:01:22 respectively. The incentive was certainly there with a generous cash purse provided by local specialty running shoe store On the Run.

Once again, USA (United Space Alliance), a prime NASA contractor, was the major sponsor of this popular event. In the spirit of sharing useless trivia, this was the only opportunity current Houston area runners ever had or will ever have to race 10 miles on 10/10/10.

The single loop course was flat and fast (part of it on the popular Bay Area loop) and the start and finish was staged out of the University of Houston/Clear Lake parking lot which offered more than enough parking. The 10-Miler was the second event of the 2010 HARRA Fall Series.

The next event is the Koala/Luke's Locker Half Marathon, which is also the first event of the marathon warm-up series. That half marathon happens on 10/24/10 so there's still time to register. Go here to view USA 10-Miler photos.
