It was a week of epic proportions as Michael Kors moved mountains in the fashion world. As the city of New York celebrated Fashion Week, Kors could proudly say that he has more accomplishments to his name.
First, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week opened with Kors receiving the 2013 FIT Couture Council Award, an honor that could not have been bestowed to a more highly-respected designer.
Secondly, two new Michael Kors stores will be opening in Milan, Italy this month. One is a Michael Kors 2,437 square foot Collection Store on Via Della Spiga with everything from luxe accessories to footwear to ready-to-wear. The other is a Lifestyle store with 5,810 square feet of accessories, footwear and ready-to-wear from the MICHAEL Michael Kors label and located on Corso Vittorio Emanuele. There will be a variety of watches, jewelry, eyewear, fragrances and a carefully curated selection of handbags available as well. Michael is thrilled with this expansion of his brand into new worldwide horizons.
Lastly, there could not have been a sweeter ending to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2014 as Michael Kors showcased his Spring/Summer 2014 Collection in The Theatre at Lincoln Center on Wednesday, September 11, 2013. The collection was the combination of so many wonderful feelings. Summer romance, the juxtaposition of sportif and romantic, lots of femininity and the collision of tailoring with soft and fluid to achieve surprisingly beautiful results. Kors knows how to turn simple into splendid.
Highlights of the collection include slashed dresses, slit skirts and the sensuous shirtdress, flirty shorts, the new sweater blouse, leather peplum, cozy cardigans, draped maillot gowns for evening, beachwear with a hint of fun as displayed like a modern pin-up, rustic raffia hand-embroideries and micro-paillette florals. The stylish trench coat scares off the spring showers. Accessories seemed to give off just the right effect with a softly structured clutch and satchel, chunky yet gutsy city sandals and the skinny belt giving the look a chic appeal. Luxe met its match as it took on denim and we gazed in awe at cashmere and lace. Whites, barley, pearl and heather dominated the color scheme of the clothing.
You could feel the energy in The Theatre as all eyes were fixated on the runway. The collection was under sharp review as Anna Wintour and Grace Coddington kept a critical eye on each of the pieces that strode down the runway on sharp-dressed models. Kors has a huge following in the celebrity world and there were some in attendance to see the newest collection unveiled. All were dressed in Kors clothing:
Katie Holmes: Wore a leaf cashmere knit, rose print skirt, nude belt, nude clutch and nude Avra pumps all from the Michael Kors Pre-fall 2013 collection.
Harley Viera-Newton: Wore a peony cropped jacket, strapless dress and white Evelyn pumps all from the Michael Kors Pre-fall 2013 collection.
Most recently, Michael Kors has been gaining even more popularity with his new beauty line comprised of flattering nail and lip colors, sweet smelling perfumes and blushing bronzers that take on the summer sun.
Michael Kors continues to lead in the fashion design industry with collections made for every lifestyle in every part of the world. This Spring/Summer 2014 Collection is sure to get rave reviews.
