Kojima reveals 'Ground Zeroes' release date and Raiden mission

There has been a lot of hype surrounding Metal Gear Solid V, a game so large that Hideo Kojima felt it necessary to split it into two parts. With the game's release window quickly approaching, fans were treated today with an exact release date and a couple of new gameplay trailers. In an interview with Xbox Wire, also posted today, Kojima spoke a bit about actor Kiefer Sutherland, who will be taking over the role of Snake from David Hayter.

It's no longer just about the words that a character speaks, it's about the depth of their facial performance and the expressive tone of their voice. As technology evolves, it's vital that the expressiveness of the characters in the game evolve to match the capabilities of the hardware. Kiefer is helping us to raise the bar in that respect, and I'm looking forward to the final result.

As for Xbox-exclusive content, a new trailer showcases a side mission titled 'Jamais Vu', which features “body snatchers” that have infiltrated a base. The world's only hope is Raiden, a man made into a war machine with no body to snatch. Granted, this most likely won't be canon (we have no idea how that would even work), but it is a cool, if not silly little scenario.

Raiden's trailer also reveals that Ground Zeroes will be available on March 18, 2014. While this may only pertain to the Xbox versions of the title, we currently have no reason to believe that this date doesn't include Sony's platforms as well.
