Kofi Kingston says Wrestlemania is the WWE's version of the Super Bowl

According to a Feb. 6 report from NOLA.com, Kofi Kingston says Wrestlemania is the WWE's version of the Super Bowl or World Series.

The WWE has no season finale, but Kingston looks at Wrestlemania as the culmination of a year's worth of work.

“It’s the biggest show of the year,” Kingston said. “We build toward it all year. We don’t have any kind of offseason, but if we were to have a season finale so to speak, it would be WrestleMania. It’s our Super Bowl. It’s our World Series. ... And when you’re climbing the ranks, you envision yourself at WrestleMania. That’s always the goal is to be on the biggest show of the year.”

The year's Wrestlemania goes down at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Sunday, Apr. 6, and Kingston is expected to be a big part of the show.

Kingston, a New Orleans native, says he's most excited about sampling some of the food from his old stomping grounds, when he comes to town for Wrestlemania XXX.

“One of my main stops is Cafe Du Monde,” said Kingston. “Getting me some beignets is always top on the priority list. Since we’re going to be here a week for WrestleMania, I’ll probably be there a little bit more than I need to be. But it’s all good, I’ll work out and burn off all the calories, so I look good in my outfit at WrestleMania.”

Kingston is perhaps best-known for the miraculous ways he avoids getting eliminated from Royal Rumble battles. Surprisingly, he says he doesn't plan the moves far in advance.

“The funny thing about it is that a lot of people think that I think about them year-round, and the past three years now, the idea hasn’t come to me until like 12 hours before the event,” he said. “I don’t put any pressure on myself to come up with anything cool. I approach it like any other match.

“I don’t know if I’d put one (escape) above another. Like I always say, the greatest trick of all would be to actually win.”
