Koe's rink from the Glencoe Curling Club in Calgary defeated Saskatchewan's Steve Laycock 8-6 to improve to 6-1 at the Canadian national curling championship from Kamloops, British Columbia.
Since hammering former Canadian Olympic gold medalist Brad Gushue of Newfoundland 9-4 on Sunday night, Kevin Koe's team has also beaten his brother, Jamie Koe, the skip of the Northwest Territories by a score of 8-3, two-time world champion Jeff Stoughton of Manitoba by a score of 10-4, and a Northern Ontario team by a score of 9-3.
Even though Koe's Alberta rink is 6-1, they are in second place behind British Columbia's John Morris, who is also at 6-1. However Morris beat Koe 7-6 in the round robin on Saturday.
Koe will play Nova Scotia and Ontario today, Prince Edward Island on Thursday and Quebec on Friday. He is looking for his second Tim Horton's Brier after winning his first in 2010.
