Koe win 2014 Alberta Curling Championship

According to TSN on Sunday, Calgary's Kevin Koe will represent Alberta at the 2014 Tim Horton's Brier in Kamloops, British Columbia.

Koe, who represented the Calgary Glencoe Club, defeated Canadian Olympic gold medallist Kevin Martin 7-5 in the Alberta provincial championship from Lacombe.

Koe, who was joined by third Pat Simmons, second Carter Rycroft and lead Nolan Thiessen won the 2010 Tim Horton's Brier in Halifax, Nova Scotia and the 2010 World Curling Championship in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy.

This will be Koe's third Brier appearance as a skip. He also finished second to Glenn Howard of Coldwater, Ontario in the 2012 Tim Horton's Brier in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Koe will be joined at the Brier by former Tim Horton's Brier champion Jeff Stoughton of Winnipeg, and former Olympic champions Brad Gushue of St. John's, Newfoundland and John Morris of Kelowna, British Columbia.

Koe's first game at the 2014 Tim Horton's Brier will be at 2:30 p.m. mountain time on March 1 against Morris.
