Kobe: Will the 'NBA 2K13 All-Star Weekend DLC' get a Boost?

With less than a month to go, the NBA All-Star Game is coming our way with all cylinders turning. This 62nd NBA All-Star Game will be played at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013 (8 p.m. ET), televised exclusively on TNT and broadcast exclusively on ESPN Radio in the U.S. The All-Star Game will reach fans in more than 200 countries and territories in more than 40 different languages.

The Los Angeles Lakers, Kobe Bryant edged out the Miami Heat LeBron James as this year's leading vote getter in the 2013 NBA All-Star Balloting presented by Sprint. This earned him a record of 15 consecutive All-Star nominations. Bryant breaks a tie with Karl Malone, Jerry West and Shaquille O'Neal for the most consecutive NBA All-Star appearences.

Now, a four-time Kia NBA All-Star MVP of 2002, 2007, 2009 and 2011. Bryant also holds the title as the youngest All-Star in NBA history. He made his first All-Star debut in 1998, at the age of 19 years old. In last year's All-Star Game in Orlando, FL., he surpassed Michael Jordan as the game's all-time leading scorer.

Bryant fan base has never been less than stellar. His jersey has sold well all over the world, but that’s not news. The question is—will he be able to help boost the sales of 2K SPORTS new installment NBA 2K13 All-Star Weekend DLC? For those of you who don't know, it’s only an add-on.

It’s apparent that LeBron James is wasting no time trying to secure the spot at the very top, and would love to entertain that same question, but unfortunately—again, he will have to wait another year at the ballot box. Settling for number two isn't an option right now. It's these final ballots that usually upsets his core fans during this time of year.

2K SPORTS has opened up its pre-order bonus as downloadable content. The NBA 2K13 All-Star pack is available on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 for $4.99 (400 MSP). It packages together four events: a three point shootout, slam dunk contest, Rising Stars Challenge Game, and East vs West All-Star Game. The three point shootout and slam dunk contest pits classic stars against modern-day stars, and the Rising Stars and All-Star game features 2012 All-Stars as well.

Now, that it’s official, and the 2013 NBA All-Star participants have been finalized through this year's voting, the roster will update to feature them in the games instead. NBA 2K13 broke franchise sales records by selling nearly 50 percent more than its previous record holder, NBA 2K11.
