Kobe and Vanessa Bryant's divorce settlement is not the usual divorce settlement.
According to Huffington Post, Kobe Bryant's soon-to-be ex-wife Vanessa gets the couple's three Newport Beach mansions. The houses are just part of the settlement. Vanessa will be also receive half of the couples' estimated $150 million fortune.
Why does Vanessa gets so much?
The couple had no prenuptial agreement. Since California is a community property state, Vanessa is entitled to half her NBA star ex's earnings during their 10-year marriage.
If the couple lived in another state, the numbers might have been different.
Vanessa requested joint custody of the couple's two daughters, 8-year-old Natalia and 5-year-old Giana. She also asked for spousal support which Kobe agreed to.
Shortly after the documents were filed, a statement was released from the couple's representative:
"The Bryants have resolved all issues incident to their divorce privately with the assistance of counsel and a judgment dissolving their marital status will be entered in 2012.
